Low intensity blast in Bangalore leaves woman dead, another injured
A woman was killed and a man was injured in a low-intensity blast at around 8.30 pm outside a restaurant on Bangalore's Church Street, NDTV reported. The blast was caused by an improvised explosive device placed in a drain outside the Coconut Grove restaurant. The busy street is filled with eating places and shops. Jharkhand: BJP leader Louis Marandi to join cabinet
Bharatiya Janata Party leader Raghubar Das, a five-time legislator from East Jamshedpur, took oath on Sunday as Jharkhand’s first non-tribal chief minister. On Saturday, he met BJP national president Amit Shah to discuss government formation. According to reports, BJP leaders C P Singh, Louis Marandi and Neelkanth Munda were expected to join Das’s cabinet.

Bihar: Four Janata Dal (United) legislators disqualified
The Bihar Assembly Speaker has terminated the membership of four Janata Dal (United) MLAs for “indulging in anti-party activities”. The four legislators – Ajit Kumar, Poonam Devi, Suresh Chanchal and Rajiv Kumar – were “found guilty of cross-voting against their party” in the recent Rajya Sabha elections. They were disqualified under the provisions of the anti-defection law.

New Delhi: Sale of acid to be monitored online
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said on Saturday that an online system will soon be introduced to monitor the sale of acid. Meant to check acid attacks on women, the system will be first launched in Delhi. Singh also said that the Home Ministry has advised all chief ministers to give 33% representation to women in the security forces.

Uttar Pradesh: Swamy says Ravana was from Ghaziabad
Subramanian Swamy, the maverick BJP leader, called for changes in the country’s history textbooks, claiming that their content currently is “rubbish”. Addressing a seminar at the Banaras Hindu University, Swamy announced that Ravana and his wife Mandodari were dalits from Uttar Pradesh, according to The Times of India. Ravana was born at Basrakh near Ghaziabad, and Mandodari in Meerut region, according to Swamy’s historical research.

Madhya Pradesh: White tiger dies in Indore zoo
A white tiger died at Indore zoo on Saturday after being bitten by a highly venomous cobra. According to zoo officials, the snake slithered into the tiger’s enclosure and a fight broke out between the two. The three-year-old tiger, Rajan, was acquired from Bilaspur zoo last month for a breeding programme.
