ART Abraham George at Gallery Maskara
Mumbai artist Abraham George’s new solo show animal.spirit.algorithm is a series of prints suggestive of “everything from architectural layouts to punch cards and circuit boards but also evoke older ordering systems like maps, tables, icons and totems”. The show includes video works such as ‘Shop Window’, which “follows the breakdown of perceptually continuous images into discrete blocks of information”.

ART Desmond Lazaro at Chemould Prescott Road
The In-coming Passengers, Pondicherry-based artist Desmond Lazaro’s new solo show, is a series of drawings, texts and video works about the migratory history of his family. Lazaro was born in Leeds in the UK to an Anglo-Indian family. His grandparents had immigrated there from Burma and his great-grandfather lived in Madras in the nineteenth-century. ART Hemali Bhuta at Project 88
A number of works in Baroda-based artist Hemali Bhuta’s new solo show Measure of a Foot have been made by dismantling installations that were part of an earlier exhibition titled Point-Shift and Quoted Objects. The show suggests “that these works of art, and the matter they contain, belong to a continuum. Lying on the ground, they are future memorials to their former selves." FILM Francophone Week at Alliance Francaise
Every year the Alliance Francaise celebrates Francophone Week in countries around the world where French is spoken. This year the institute will have a series of film screenings at the Alliance Francaise auditorium and music concerts and workshops at the National Centre for the Performing Arts, Blue Frog and Furtados School of Music. The films include Gabrielle, Canadian director Louise Archambault’s 2013 drama about a woman with a neurodevelopmental disorder who joins a choir for similarly disabled adults and then starts a relationship with a fellow chorister (Friday, March 11 at 6.30 pm), and a series of Canadian short animation movies (Saturday, March 12 at 6.30 pm). MUSEUM EXHIBITION Tabiyat at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya
Organised by the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya, the British Council and the Wellcome Collection UK, this exhibition of artworks and objects related to medical practice and health in the subcontinent is a capsule of Indian medical history. MUSEUM EXHIBITION The State of Architecture at the National Gallery of Modern Art
