FILM European Union Festival at the Alliance Francaise and the British Council
The concluding weekend of the festival will feature screenings of Rebecca Cremona’s 2014 Maltese film Simshar, about migration in the Mediterranean (Friday at 11.30 am at the Alliance Francaise); Jan Sverak’s 2014 Czech movie Three Brothers (Tri Bratri), a musical inspired by popular fairy tales (Saturday at 2.30 pm at the British Council) and Ralph Fiennes’s 2011 British feature Coriolanus, a contemporary version of the Shakespeare drama (Sunday at 4.30 pm at the British Council). FILM Short Films Night at The Pantry
Three short films will be screened at this instalment of the monthly night. American director Keegan Wilcox’s Porcelain Unicorn, from 2010, is about the friendship between a German boy and a Jewish girl hiding from the Nazis during Second World War. Sintel, a 2010 animation film by Pixar animator Colin Levy, centres around a girl who sets out to find her long-lost friend, a dragon. In Death of a Shadow, a 2012 Belgian fantasy film by Tom Van Avermaet, the shadow of a soldier who died in World War I is secured by a collector of shadows. There is no entry fee.
