THEATRE Ibsen Festival at Prithvi Theatre
Surnai Theatre’s ongoing Ibsen Festival will feature Hindi adaptations of the plays of Henrik Ibsen. Peechha Karti Parchhaiyan, which is based on Ghosts and directed by K. K. Raina, is set in a feudal family in Cooch Behar ridden with politics and haunted by mysterious past events (Friday at 6 pm and 9 pm; tickets priced at Rs 300 per person are being sold here). In Mareechika, an adaptation of The Lady from the Sea, Rampyari marries an older man and moves from a place near the sea to a desert. Peer Ghani, director KK Raina’s version of Peer Gynt is set in Kashmir in the 1980s. Peer is the impoverished son of a man who wasted away the family wealth on a lavish life.
