At a time when many Indian journalists have succumbed to fears – both real and imaginary – to work under the burden self-censorship, two cartoonists are bravely defying the trend. Every day, Manjul and Satish Acharya amuse and challenge their readers with rapier-sharp visual commentary about Indian life and politics.
In recent weeks, as protests rage across India against the new Citizenship Amendment Act, the National Population Register and the planned National Register of Citizens, both have called out the government’s hypocrisies and exposed its untruths in a range of publications.
Here is a sample of their recent work.
