Former captain Rahul Dravid’s appointment on Wednesday as the team’s next head coach got the fans excited as a new era beckons in Indian cricket.
Confirming what had been reported by multiple sources towards the end of IPL 2021, Dravid was on Wednesday appointed as the head coach of the Indian men’s cricket team by the Board of Control for Cricket in India, to take over from Ravi Shastri whose term ends after the ongoing T20 World Cup.
He will take over from the upcoming home series against New Zealand, starting later this month. It will be India’s first assignment after a dismal World Cup campaign.
Dravid, who was working as the head of National Cricket Academy and has been the Under-19 and A coach in the past, has been appointed for a period of two years till the 2023 50-over World Cup in India.

Indian cricket needs to start a process of transition and they couldn't have got a better person to be in the thick of that process than Rahul Dravid.

The BCCI had invited applications for the head coach position on October 26 to appoint Ravi Shastri’s successor, whose term gets over after the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup. Dravid's the right guy for the job but did the Board even consider anyone else?

This was obvious after R-a-v-i, all four letters of whose name can be found in V-i-r-a-t.
I think Rahul Dravid is going to make a fantastic head coach for #India …

Would love to see India adopting a bat first approach in T20 bilaterals under Dravid just how they adapted a bowl first approach in ODIs under him as captain.

Chasing was the achilles heel then in ODIs, batting first is the achilles heel now in T20s. https://t.co/nrqOIXcvJK

Rahul Dravid will have huge shows to fill, the things Ravi Shastri has done for Team India will be remembered forever. Iconic, historic, under-appreciated
