That is it for this blog. Don’t quite get fooled by the margin of MI’s win in the end, that was quite the match with plenty of twists and turns. Have to say, MI and DC are all but in the top two but UPW definitely look like the third best team in the tournament. Can RCB find their first win? Monday, they take on DC.

Harmanpreet Kaur: “That Saika over was the turning point”

Player of the match: Winning captain Harmanpreet Kaur

MI 164/2 after 17.3 overs: MI win by 8 wickets & 15 balls to spare. MI needed 84 runs from 54 balls at one stage. They finished the run-chase with 15 balls to spare. Some acceleration by Harmanpreet Kaur and Nat Sciver-Brunt. And how ironic that luck ended up playing quite the narrative.

MI 164/2 after 17.3 overs: FOUR, SIX AND WIN! What a run-chase. It feels like about 20 mins back there was pressure on MI. And in no time, it changed around. Nat Sciver-Brunt closes the match out with a four and six.

HALF CENTURY: Harmanpreet Kaur started this innings 1 off 7 balls. She has gone on to score a 31-ball half century. What a knock. A little bit of luck, again, as she get the thinnest of edge down fine leg.

MI 142/2 after 16 overs: Harmanpreet Kaur vs Tahlia McGrath: 4-6-4-4. What seemed like a potential pressure run-chase has turned in no time. Stunning batting. The six really was some shot.

37 off 29 balls is the equation as play resumes.

MI 123/2 after 15.1 overs: OUCH! Nat Sciver-Brunt gets hit flush on the helmet from an Ismail throw. Time for a timeout, she seems ok though. Would have been out if the hit was on the stumps.

MI 123/2 after 15 overs: A four each for NSB and Harman in that over, one through the off and the next through midwicket. This is a terrific partnership now.

MI 111/2 after 14 overs: Brilliant. Harmanpreet brings out the sweep and nails two fours off Gayakwad to finish that over strongly. From 0 off 6 she is now on 25 off 21.

MI 99/2 after 13 overs: Big over for MI as NSB and Harman take on Ecclestone for a four each.

MI 87/2 after 12 overs: Sciver-Brunt with two fours in that Deepti Sharma and it is a release of pressure for MI. Lisa Sthalekar in the mid-innings chat thinks she is going to go the distance.

MI 76/2 after 11 overs: This match has had so much drama! Harman gets lucky. No one can argue with that moment. The ball scrapes the bail but not enough to take it off. UP think they Sciver run out next ball but she is in. Just four runs in that Anjali over.

MI 72/2 after 10 overs: There is definite turn on offer. Harmanpreet plays one of the shots of the night, riding the spin with her wrists to place through the cover.

MI need 96 from 66 balls. This is a very crucial few overs.

Timeout. It’s been a bit breathtaking.

MI 64/2 after 9 overs: Second no ball of the day from Ismail and it gives a free hit to Harman to get off the mark. Just a single though. Good over from Ismail, pacy as ever.

Pressure building on Harman, 0 off 6 balls.

MI 59/2 after 8 overs: UP Warriorz spin attack is going to make this tough for MI. That start in the powerplay by Yastika might just be the difference. Let’s see.

Harman and NSB in the middle and UP have their openings.

MI 58/2 after 7.2 overs: WICKET! And one brings two for UP. Matthews’ first failure of the tournament, really. UP spinners are starting to get help from the pitch. Matthews c & b Ecclestone 12 (17 balls)

MI 58/1 after 6.5 overs: WICKET! Finally. The sweep finds the fielder this time and UP strike. End of a good innings by Yastika. Bhatia c Shaikh b Gayakwad 42 (27 balls)

MI 51/0 after 6 overs: More DRS drama. Healy and Ismail were confident of a caught behind but nothing on UltraEdge. UP can’t believe it. Couple of fours in that over too as the 50-stand comes up.

MI 40/0 after 5 overs: Well, that was all sorts of bizarre. Matthews is clearly not out but there is some massive confusion with DRS. She is given out first and then they reverse the reversal. To be fair, the Warriorz knew that was not out too.

Ecclestone time and UPW need wickets.

MI 34/0 after 4 overs: Bhatia is making UP pay for their dropped chances. Two fours in that Anjali over. The second a gorgeous cover drive.

MI 24/0 after 3 overs: DROPPED! Tahlia McGrath is mic’d up and she says she hasn’t seen Simran misfield all tournament but she has over-ran this and dropped one at deep square leg. Bhatia with another reprieve, this one off Deepti.

MI 17/0 after 2 overs: Oh, oh. Yastika Bhatia appears to have edged one to Healy in that Ismail over but it wasn’t taken. She finishes the over well though, first a cover drive and then a superb pull shot.

Ismail time. UPW need early breakthroughs.

MI 8/0 after 1 over: Gayakwad starts off and Matthews helps herself to two fours in the opening over.

UPW: 159/6 (20) Alyssa Healy and Tahlia McGrath put up a great partnership. But Saika Ishaque dismissed them in one over and from there, MI fought back superbly. Ishaque takes her tally to 12 wickets for the tournament!

UPW 159/6 after 20 overs: That UP batting lineup really needs Harris in the middle order. McGrath and Healy played superbly but they lost their way in the end. Ishaque’s over the turning point.

UPW 156/6 after 19.3 overs: WICKET! Deepti is stumped with Kerr beating the LHB dancing down the ground. Great late fightback by MI. Sharma st Bhatia b Kerr 7 (6 balls)

UPW 155/5 after 19 overs: 9 runs in that Wong over as Deepti and Simran taken UP past 150.

UPW 141/5 after 18 overs: WICKET! The fightback continues from MI. Ecclestone could have put on a few big overs in the end but not to be. Ecclestone c Nat Sciver-Brunt b Matthews 1 (4 balls)

UPW 141/4 after 17 overs: Ishaque finishes with 4-0-33-3.

UPW 141/4 after 16.5 overs: WICKET! Terrific. Full ball and the advancing McGrath misses out. Great stumping by Bhatia. What an over. McGrath st Bhatia b Ishaque 50 (37 balls)

UPW 140/3 after 16.3 overs: WICKET! Terrific comeback by Ishaque. Alyssa Healy attacked Saika Ishaque early to throw her off her lengths, but late in the innings, the spinner gets her reward. Adds another impressive wicket to her list. Healy lbw b Ishaque 58 (46 balls)

UPW 138/2 after 16 overs: MI have consistently been good in the outfield. Just 5 runs in the Kerr over.

UPW 133/2 after 15 overs: Two superb hits over the offside by McGrath in Wong’s over. Was shaping into a good one from the pacer but two fours to end that over for 10 runs.

MI have lost both their reviews. Wanted the Healy wicket badly, in Wong’s over. Nothing doing.

UPW 123/2 after 14 overs: Healy brings up the half century in that over, after placing a superb shot past midwicket for four off Matthews.

Matthews to bowl after the timeout.

UPW 113/2 after 13 overs: NSB misses the cut strip but the free hit off the resulting no ball is not costly. Healy does hit a four in that over, through midwicket. She has largely played second fiddle in this stand but now into the 40s.

Harmanpreet Kaur must really be tired of the sight of Tahlia McGrath doing well in yellow against her blue. She has raced close to Healy already.

UPW 104/2 after 12 overs: Oh, expensive over from Kalita. McGrath hits a four over cover. There is a no ball end of the over and McGrath misses out on a free hit. Great fielding by A Kaur in that over prevents a four.

UPW 91/2 after 11 overs: McGrath hits a good shot past cover for four, but that is a tidy over otherwise from Ishaque.

Ishaque returns to the attack, can she bounce back from an expensive over?

UPW 85/2 after 10 overs: After missing out on a couple of sweeps, McGrath brings out the reverse for a four. But a good over from Matthews otherwise.

Matthews to bowl her second.

UPW 79/2 after 9 overs: McGrath with three fours in one over! One of those have to go down as a dropped chance as Kerry induces the outside edge off a late cut but Bhatia can’t hold on.

UPW 66/2 after 8 overs: Good over from Matthews apart from one full toss that is smashed by McGrath for four. MI have bowled perhaps too many boundary balls for their liking.

Something that Delhi Capitals have tried to get right for Shafali Verma is shot-selection. Precisely what seems to be the area to work on for Kiran Navgire at UPW. That sweep shot is clearly her big weapon but seems to pick the wrong deliveries to use it.

Hayley Matthews time. UPW have two of their best batters in the middle.

UPW 58/2 after 6.4 overs: WICKET! Six, four and out. Magnificent straight six, a bizarre reverse sweep for four past short-third but then Navgire goes for one big shot too many. Navgire c Bhatia b Kerr 17 ( 14 balls)

Healy, after her 96*, is on 30* here. She is in some form.

UPW 48/1 after 6 overs: Another over that was shaping up pretty well for MI but Healy smacks a big six over midwicket off NSB to make it a good powerplay for UPW all said and done.

NSB to finish the powerplay. Can she get Healy?

UPW 39/1 after 5 overs: A really good over otherwise spoiled by one gift from Wong to Healy, down the leg stump and just needed a touch for four.

UPW 34/1 after 4 overs: And that is why Healy is so good. Has completely thrown Ishaque off her lengths by using her feet and there are four fours in that over.

UPW 16/1 after 3 overs: That is actually a terrific first over from Wong. Constantly threatening Healy’s pads. One review taken but lost by MI. Navgire hits a four through midwicket.

UPW 8/1 after 2 overs: WICKET! Four and out! The partnership is broken finally after a match and two overs. Ishaque’s accuracy does the trick, Vaidya misses the sweep. Vaidya lbw b Ishaque 6 (5 balls)

Purple Cap holder to bowl with the Purple Cap on. Saika time.

UPW 2/0 after 1 over: Oh that is a good first over, and a terrific delivery to end it. Lovely shape away from NSB to Healy but the ball falls short of slip.

Nat Sciver-Brunt to start off with seam. Healy and Vaidya, yet to beaten as a partnership, in the middle. Here we go.

A contest to look forward to. A UPW win will mean the cream of top three will start to rise. A MI win, I believe, will make the race for third spot interesting.

UP Warriorz XI: Devika Vaidya, Alyssa Healy (wk & c), Shweta Sehrawat, Kiran Navgire, Tahlia McGrath, Deepti Sharma, Simran Shaikh, Sophie Ecclestone, Shabnim Ismail, Anjali Sarvani, Rajeshwari Gayakwad

Mumbai Indians XI: Yastika Bhatia (wk), Hayley Matthews, Nat Sciver-Brunt, Harmanpreet Kaur (c), Dhara Gujjar, Amelia Kerr, Amanjot Kaur, Humaira Kazi, Issy Wong, Jintimani Kalita, Saika Ishaque

Team news: Dhara Gujjar is the debutant for MI (Even though the broadcasters continue to insist Amanjot Kaur). Pooja Vastrakar is injured, says Harman. Ismail replaces Harris for UPW.

TOSS: Alyssa Healy, with a quick handshake with Harman, says UP will be batting first. No Grace Harris, who is ill seemingly.

6.55 pm: Early team news is that there is a debutant for MI. Not quite sure who the cap went to but it wasn’t Amanjot Kaur certainly, who has already played for MI (but hasn’t been required to bat or bowl). MI’s bowlers have been brilliant in all three matches so far, bowling out their opponents thrice (29 wickets in all). UPW also have their bowlers coming to the party, especially spinners. Should be a good battle that today.

06.43 pm: The broadcasters do mention the “effort” debate that popped up recently on social media. In case you missed in the aftermath of India-Australia semifinal, Healy had some interesting things to say.

06.40 pm Hello and welcome to the live coverage of Women’s Premier League. It’s match No 10 and it is UP Warriorz vs Mumbai Indians. It is Alyssa Healy vs Harmanpreet Kaur.

Mumbai Indians have undoubtedly been the best side of the tournament so far and they come into this with three wins out of three. In what was supposed to be their biggest test so far, they came up with a thumping win against Delhi Capitals. They have won one match by 143 runs and finished two chases in the 15th over. On the other side, Healy’s Warriorz have blown hot and cold. They have two wins out of three, and their spin strength is starting to come to the fore. A win for them would see three teams emerge as clear favourites for top three.

Will we see a close contest today?

And watch out for the efforts on the field.
