India lost 1-2 to Germany in a Pool B encounter that Roelant Oltman's side dominated on Monday. The Indians conceded a goal in the final three seconds of the match to lose out. Christopher Ruhr scored the last-gasp winner to give the defending gold medallists their second win of the competition. The win kept the Germans at the top of the table, while India stand third.
At halftime, the two teams were level at 1-1, with Rupinder Pal Singh scoring the equaliser for India after Nikklas Wellen had given Germany the lead in the early stages of the second quarter.
India won their first game against Ireland and were ready to face the German challenge. They did put up a good show, but eventually fell to the Germans in the dying seconds of the game.
