Mairaj Ahmed Khan narrowly missed out on a spot in the finals in the men's skeet event after finishing ninth at the qualification stage over two days on Sunday.

Khan was tied in fifth spot with four other shooters after the two series of the second day got over. However he missed his mark in the shoot-out which took place to break the deadlock and slumped to ninth spot. The top six in the qualification stage progressed to the semi-finals.

After finishing 10th on the first day of qualification on Friday, Khan got off to an excellent start on Day 2 and found himself ranked fifth at one stage. The 40-year-old followed up his scores of 24, 25 and 23 from Friday with a perfect 25 and a 24 on Saturday. Unfortunately, he could not continue the good form in the shoot-out and had to settle for a ninth place finish.
