Indian marathon runners OP Jaisha and Kavita Raut finished 89th and 120th out of a field of 157 runners in the women's marathon at the Olympics on Sunday.
Jaisha, the national record holder, finished with a time of 2.47:19, 23 minutes and 15 seconds behind the eventual winner, Jemima Jelagat Sumgong of Kenya, who finished with a time of 2.24:04.
Jaisha finished almost 13 minutes slower than her personal best and the national record set in Beijing earlier this year. At the halfway mark, she was 59th and three minutes behind the leaders, but could not sustain her pace in the latter half of the marathon.
Kavita Raut finished with a time of 2.59:29 to finish 120th.
