Indian boxer Vikas Krishan Yadav crashed out of the Rio Olympics on Tuesday after losing his men's middle 75 kg quarter-final bout to Uzbekistan's Bektemir Melikuziev. Yadav lost the bout 0-3 and with his ouster, India's boxing challenge at Rio has come to an end. Shiva Thapa and Manoj Kumar were knocked out earlier. Vijender Singh therefore remains the first and only Indian male boxer to have won an Olympic medal.
Yadav took a pounding from Melikuziev in all three rounds. The first round ended with the 24-year-old Indian scoring a 9, 9, 9 compared to all 10s for Melikuziev. The second and third rounds were even worse for Yadav as he could score only 9, 8, 9 in both, while Melikuziev bagged 10s from each judge.
