The Board of Control for Cricket in India has written to the International Cricket Council regarding the funds allocated to the England and Wales Cricket Board for the 2017 Champions Trophy, which will be held in the United Kingdom. The BCCI claimed that the budget allotted by the ICC to the ECB was three times higher than what the Indian board had received during the 2016 World Twenty20 earlier this year, reported ESPNcricinfo.

In an email to the ICC, the BCCI asked why the 15-match Champions Trophy, a tournament played in three cities, will cost more than the World T20, a 58-game event played across seven venues in India. The report quoted a BCCI official saying, "There is a big difference in costs. We have been looking at the figures allotted for [the] Champions Trophy and the total tournament cost is significantly higher. At least three times higher than what we do here. For us they audit, [and] say 'Reduce this, don't do this.' Similarly, why not do the same for everyone?"

The ICC has responded to the BCCI's email, the report added.
