All-rounder Jimmy Neesham was named in the 15-man New Zealand Test squad for the upcoming tour of India. The 25-year-old last played in the Test series against Australia in November last year. Neesham, who has played nine Tests, returned home from the series owing to a back injury. He has since been playing in the domestic circuit for the Otago Volts and recently ended a stint with Derbyshire in England.

The 15-man squad has three changes from the one that toured South Africa and lost the two-Test series 0-1, with Matt Henry and Jeet Raval being dropped and Neesham the only addition. Corey Anderson was not considered for the squad, as he is still nursing a back injury. The Kiwis will play a three-day warm up game in New Delhi ahead of Tests in Kanpur, Kolkata and Indore.

The squad:

Kane Williamson (captain), Trent Boult, Doug Bracewell, Mark Craig, Martin Guptill, Tom Latham, Jimmy Neesham, Henry Nicholls, Luke Ronchi, Mitchell Santner, Ish Sodhi, Tim Southee, Ross Taylor, Neil Wagner, BJ Watling.
