The big news: They just can't stop sniping at each other
With every passing day, the conflict between the Board of Control for Cricket in India and the International Cricket Council just seems to be getting bigger. After vehemently opposing the ICC's suggested two-tier Test system, questioning the allocation of funds to next year's Champions Trophy and accusing chairman Shashank Manohar of abandoning "a sinking ship", the BCCI actually wanted the world cricket governing body to protect its turf against the recommendations of the Justice Lodha panel.
ICC chief executive David Richardson revealed that the president of the BCCI, Anurag Thakur, had verbally requested a letter from Manohar with clarification on whether the proposed Lodha reforms amounted to governmental interference in the BCCI's functioning. However, Manohar rejected the request and asked for an official letter from the BCCI asking for the same, according to PTI.
The Indian cricket board shot back with secretary Ajay Shirke accusing Richardson of being "tutored to speak", according to Times of India. The fight is getting uglier and the consequences for cricket could be profound.
