A lawyer representing Formula One legend Michael Schumacher's family has reportedly told a court in Germany that the seven-time champion still "cannot walk", three after suffering a life-threatening head injury while skiing in France in 2013.

The lawyer, Felix Damm, opened up about Schumacher's condition while filing a lawsuit against German magazine Bunte, which had claimed in a cover story published last December that the race car driver "could walk again". The magazine had quoted Schumacher's friend saying, “Michael is very thin. But he can once again walk a little with the help of his therapists. He manages to make a couple of steps. And he can also raise an arm.”

However, Damm told the court that the report was false, adding that the 47-year-old Schumacher “cannot walk” and is unable to stand even with the assistance of therapists. The court is expected to give its verdict on the case against Bunte next month.

After the accident, Schumacher was in a coma for six months before being transferred to his Switzerland home. His treatment and recovery process has been a fiercely private affair.
