Manchester United blitzed four goals past champions Leicester in a blistering first half display as the Red Devils got back to winning ways after dropping captain Wayne Rooney following back-to-back league defeats against Manchester City and Watford.

Manchester City did not let a Fernando Llorente equaliser at the Liberty Stadium stop their winning run as the returning Sergio Aguero grabbed two goals, including a penalty, to make it 18 out of a possible 18 points under coach Pep Guardiola.

In the big match of the weekend, Arsenal brushed aside Chelsea 3-0 at the Emirates in a dominant attacking display to crank up the pressure on coach Antonio Conte, who saw his team fall eight points behind leaders City after just six games played. The biggest winners of the weekend…

Liverpool are entertainers and genuine contenders

Cementing their status as legitimate contenders for a European spot and possibly the title, Liverpool put five across 10-man Hull as Jurgen Klopp’s men climbed to fourth spot in the table with 13 points.

The Merseyside club have now scored 16 goals in six games, second only to City’s 18, pumping five past a Hull defence which had conceded seven in their first five games.

Adam Lallana scored from a scuffed finish after James Milner and Phillipe Coutinho had set him up, with Milner scoring the second off a penalty kick as Ahmed Elmohamady was shown a straight red for blocking a goal-bound shot with his hand. The Reds went into half-time 3-0 up after Mane struck a perfect drive into the corner of Hull’s goal.

David Meyler grabbed a consolation for Hull, scoring from close range after the ball had come off a corner early in the second half. Then Lallana turned provider when he passed the ball to Coutinho, who scored with a beautiful long-range curler, before Milner scored with his second penalty of the evening.

It’s a perfect 10 for Pep

Pep Guardiola’s competitive record at Manchester City reads played 10, won 10 as City motored along in their quest for a third Premier League title.

Sergio Aguero opened the scoring as only he could, flicking a low cross from Bacary Sagna beyond the Swansea defence and driving it past Swans keeper Lukasz Fabianski.

Fernando Llorente equalised after a high ball into the box made its way to him. Swansea went level into the break.

Kevin De Bruyne earned City a penalty after being brought down in the box by defender Mike Van der Hoorn. Aguero made no mistake as City went into the lead. Raheem Sterling made the points safe 13 minutes from time with a tidy finish after a fast counter by the visitors caught Swansea out.

Cherries pop Toffees at the Vitality

Everton crashed to their first defeat to the season as Junior Stanislas’s first half stunner was enough for Bournemouth to claim three points against the visitors, who dropped to fifth in the table, with 13 points.

Ronald Koeman’s men failed to trouble the scorers as Ross Barkley and Yannick Bolasie couldn't score for the visitors after the half.

Stanislas drove in the ball from 25 yards out after Harry Arter had passed it to him. The goal came moments after goalkeeper Artur Boruc had made a superb, instinctive save off a Romelu Lukaku header at the other end.

Son shines bright for Spurs

South Korean winger Son-Heung Min scored his third and fourth goals of the season to give Tottenham Hotspur their fourth win of the season and remain one of two teams in the league to remain unbeaten, apart from leaders City.

Mauricio Pochettino’s team climbed to second spot in the table with 14 points on the board, four points behind City. Son opened the scoring after a run into the box, where he was fed by Spurs' striker for the day, Vincent Janssen, filling in for the injured Harry Kane.

Son doubled the visitors’ lead after 23 minutes with a fine curled finish into the corner. Spurs were given a scare when Ben Gibson headed home a Stewart Downing cross to give Middlesbrough a lifeline, but it wasn’t enough as the north Londoners hung on for a well-deserved three points.
