The big news: Real Madrid draw second game on the trot
Real Madrid were held to a second draw on the trot after they finished 2-2 against Las Palmas on Sunday. Marco Asensio’s header gave Real the lead but Tana Dominguez pulled one back five minutes later. Karim Benzema scored the second to give Real the lead. However, five minutes before the match could end, Tana Araujo scored a fine goal to give Las Palmas 2-2 draw.
After winning 16 La Liga games in succession, Real have dropped four points in a week with two draws and now face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League in Germany on Tuesday. They were held by Villarreal 1-1 on September 21.

- Bayern Munich continued their flawless run in the Bundesliga with a 1-0 win over Hamburg. Joshua Kimmich scored a late goal in the 88th minute to make it five wins out of five for Bayern. The only problem Bayern suffered was the injury to Matt Hummels, who will undergo tests before their Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid.
- Barcelona continued their goal-scoring fest event though Lionel Messi was missing owing to a groin injury. Barcelona scored five goals against ten-man Sporting Gijon as Neymar, Luis Suarez, Rafinha and Arda Turan were on target.
- Manchester United were at their best when they defeated defending champions Leicester City 4-1 at Old Trafford on Saturday. Liverpool too beat Hull City with a dominating 5-1 win to put their case forward as title contenders. Manchester City won their sixth straight league match after they beat Swansea 3-1. However, the best was saved for the last as Arsenal thrashed Chelsea 3-0 too at the Emirates Stadium.
