Pakistan Test captain Misbah-ul-Haq remains hopeful of India-Pakistan bilateral resuming despite the Board of Control for Cricket in India ruling out the possibility in the near future in the wake of the terror attack on an army base in Uri, Jammu and Kashmir, earlier this month.
BCCI chief Anurag Thakur had slammed Pakistan as a "nation that sponsors terror", and said that the Indian board wasn't ready to even entertain the possibility of cricket resuming between the two nations. Pakistan's kabbadi team had also withdrawn from the upcoming World Cup, which will be held in Ahmedabad.
Misbah-ul-Haq, fresh from taking his team to the summit of the ICC Test rankings, pointed at political tensions not seeping over during ICC events. The 42-year-old said, as quoted by Reuters, "If India can play against Pakistan in ICC events then why not in bilateral series?"
Earlier in the year, Pakistan and India clashed in the Asia Cup and World Twenty20. The last Test series India and Pakistan played was in 2007, which went India's way. Misbah-ul-Haq said that that Pakistan's door is always open when it came to Indo-Pak ties. "Pakistan is always ready to play against India, but what can we do if they do not want to play," he said.
