Canada’s Adil Shamasdin and Sweden's Andreas Siljestrom beat the Indian pairing of Rohan Bopanna and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan in their doubles encounter at the Chengdu Open on Thursday. The Indian pair lost 6-4, 7-6(4) in the quarter-finals, after beating Spain’s Feliciano Lopez and Argentina’s Juan Monaco 6-2, 6-4 in their opening round clash on Tuesday.

The quarter-final began with Shamasdin and Siljestrom bagging the first seat 6-4 in a quick manner. However, the Indians tried to make a comeback in the second set, which was decided by a tie-breaker. However, they lost it 7-4 to bring an end to their campaign.

In the second quarter-final, the Indian pairing of Purav Raja and Divij Sharan lost to United States’ Nicholas Monore and New Zealand’s Artem Sitak 6-4, 6-3. In their opening round, the Indian duo had knocked out the third-seed pairing of Dominic Inglot and Nenad Zimonjic 6-2, 6-4.
