The Board of Control for Cricket in India is set to hold a Special General Meeting (SGM) on October 15 in New Delhi to discuss the various demands made by the Supreme Court appointed Lodha committee. This will be the second such meeting in the month after the board and the state associations were given an order to respond to the various recommendations made by the committee by October 12.
During the previous SGM, which was held on October 1, the BCCI picked and chose recommendations to follow, which earned the wrath of the apex Court. Subsequently, the the board was prohibited from transferring funds to state associations which didn't implement the committee's recommendations, stated a report on ESPN.
The report added that the board's notice on the upcoming SGM reached the state associations only on Monday, with BCCI president Anurag Thakur and secretary Ajay Shirke currently in Cape Town to attend ICC meetings.
The report added that only two full official members, Vidarbha Cricket Association and the Tripura Cricket Association, have accepted the recommendations, while the bigger state associations have held off so far. The Rajasthan Cricket Association, banned by the BCCI, was the first to implement the Lodha Committee terms.
A BCCI office bearer, also a head of a state association, said that the board won't face any trouble in distributing the funds to the state associations, "Lodha Committee has given a particular recommendation about the states. In the Supreme Court judgement, para 61, the court has said it accepts the rights of a citizens under Article 19 (1) (c) to form an association and the court will not interfere," the official was quoted as saying.
