Dwyane Wade began his 14th NBA season with a different team. The former Miami Heat point guard powered the Chicago Bulls to a 105-99 win over the Boston Celtics on Friday.
Wade scored 22 points, which featured four three-pointers. Jimmy Butler scored 24. The Bulls shot 11-for-25 from the three-point range. Coach Fred Hoiberg said the Bulls have an ideal plan for the usage of Wade, who averaged a career-low 30.5 minutes last season while playing in 74 games, his most since 2010-'11.
Wade, who grew up in Chicago, sealed the win with his final three of the night. After trading point guard Derrick Rose to the New York Knicks, Chicago overhauled last season's roster with the addition of Wade and Rajon Rondo. Forward Taj Gibson finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds for Chicago as he earned a starting role to begin the season.
