The big news: Manchester United struggle to find the net
Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton was in fine form in front of goal as Manchester United were held to a goalless draw at Old Trafford, further piling on the pressure on manager Jose Mourinho. The home side did everything except finding the net, raiding the Burnley territory with as many as 37 shots.
Striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic fired blanks yet again as the frustrated United ended the game with 10 men, with midfielder Ander Herrera seeing red. Mourinho, after another war of words with the touchline officials, was sent to the stands. United now lie eighth in the table.

Pep Guardiola could finally breathe easy after going through the worst run of his career, which saw him go winless in six consecutive games. Liverpool missed a host of chances but still managed to down Crystal Palace 0-4. Arsenal cruised past bottom-placed Sunderland with an excellent second-half performance, registering a 4-1 win.
- Spain's big three – Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Atletico Madrid – kept the pace at the top. Cristiano Ronaldo looked like his usual self as he bagged another hat-trick but missed from the penalty spot as Los Blancos trounced Alaves 1-4. It is Zinedine Zidane's side who are in the lead at this stage. Barcelona are two points behind while Atletico Madrid lie third, three points behind their city rivals.
- In the Indian Super League, the Kerala Blasters and Chennaiyin FC played out a dull 0-0 draw at the Jawaharlal Stadium in Kochi. Defending champions Chennaiyin lie fourth in the table with one game in hand while the Blasters are fifth.
- Juventus, chasing a fifth consecutive Serie A title, defeated title challengers Napoli 2-1 with summer signing Gonzalo Higuain separating the two sides. The 75 million striker had moved from Napoli to Turin in the summer and refused to celebrate against his former club after finding the winner.
