A resurgent Lewis Hamilton got the better of his title rival and teammate, Nico Rosberg to take pole position at the Mexican Grand Prix. The German left it late to join the front row and clinched the second spot in the last lap, beating Red Bull's Max Verstappen. Daniel Ricciardo, another Red Bull driver, finished fourth.
As things stand, Rosberg is 26 points ahead of Hamilton in the Drivers' Championships. Rosberg was struggling in the practice sessions. Ferrari had a poor outing with Sebastian Vettel finishing sixth. His teammate, Kimi Raikkonen also ran out steam towards the end of the race, finishing seventh.
