The West Indies women’s cricket team handed India another defeat in the second Twenty20 to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series in Vijayawada on Sunday. Chasing a target of 138, the Indian women were bowled out for 106. The Indian batting line-up collapsed during the chase as they lost their six wickets for 33 runs.
The Indian skipper Hamanpreet Kaur was the top scorer with 43 runs. Besides Harmanpreet, only two other Indian batswomen could score more than 15 runs. For the West Indies, Anisa Mohammed and Deandra Dottin were the pick of the bowlers as they took three wickets each.
Put in to bat first, West Indies skipper Stafanie Taylor’s unbeaten 47 helped the visitors reach a respectable score of 137.
The two sides will face each other in the inconsequential third and final match on Tuesday.
