The Government’s demonetisation drive seems to have put the Pro Wrestling League’s second edition into troubled waters.
Organisers on Monday told PTI that the league has been postponed from the originally scheduled December 15 start. The Bangalore franchise have also decided to pull out of the competition.
“Post demonetisation, the PWL franchises and the stakeholders have asked for time to re-structure and re-plan their schemes. Hence, the date of the league had to be postponed,” the promoters of the PWL, Pro Sportify director Vishal Gurnani was quoted as saying by PTI.
He also stated that the Bangalore franchise will be replaced by a team from Jaipur as the JSW Bengaluru Yodhas will not take their place as they had not been clearing their dues.
The ownership of Delhi and UP have also changed, Gurnani said.
A revised schedule is expected to be announced on November 30.
