Chelsea climbed back to the top of the Premier League table with a closely fought 1-0 win over West Brom on Sunday.

Diego Costa scored the decisive goal in the 76th minute to hand Chelsea their ninth successive league win.

Costa latched onto a moment of hesitation from West Brom defender Gareth McAuley and struck with his left foot to beat keeper Ben Foster.

Chelsea had a chance of doubling their lead through a David Luiz free-kick, but could not get past the keeper. N’Golo Kante too had a shot deflected and rolled just wide of the post.

The win was Chelsea’s ninth in a row and saw them move three points clear of Arsenal on top of the Premier League table.

Henrik Mkhitaryan gives Manchester United narrow 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur

Henrik Mkhitaryan scored his first Premier League goal to help Manchester United register a tight 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Mkhitaryan scored the decisive strike in the 29th minute as Herrera seizes on a loose ball. He slid the ball into Mkhitaryan’s path, who thumped it past Hugo Lloris for a brilliant goal.

Paul Pogba came close to doubling the score in the second half, but could only manage to hit the frame of goal with a free kick.

It was not the most clinical of performances, but United held on for the win. Mikhitaryan though had sad ending to what otherwise was an excellent afternoon for him. He left on a stretcher after twisting his ankle.

The win helped United move to 24 points, just three short of Tottenham who sit in fifth place with 27 points.

Liverpool lose ground in title race with 2-2 draw against West Ham

Liverpool had to settle for a 2-2 draw against West Ham at Anfield. The Reds took the lead in the fifth minute through Adam Lallana. West Ham though came back strongly to capitalise on a Liverpool defense were not upto scratch on the night.

The Hammers equalised with a Dimitri Payet strike in the 27th minute. They took the lead six minutes before half-time through Michail Antonio.

Liverpool played an aggressive brand of football after coming back on. The ploy worked well as Divock Origi levelled the scores at 2-2 just three minutes into the second half.

Liverpool staged brilliant attacking moves through the second half, but the West Ham defence and keeper Darren Randolf were up for the challenge and thwarted all such attacks.

The draw means Liverpool remain in third place with 31 points, six adrift of leaders Chelsea.
