Former World champion Viswanathan Anand beat Maxime Vachier-Lagrave of France in the second round of London Chess Classic on Sunday, PTI reported.
Anand played an aggressive game against Lagrave, who failed to form a solid defence.
The Indian Grandmaster had earlier drawn with black pieces against Fabiano Caruana of United States in the opener.
Anand shares the second spot with Vladimir Kramnik, Fabiano Caruana and Levon Aronian a half point behind Wesley So of USA who has two points to his credit.
