Shoma Doi scored the opening goal in the semi-final clash in Osaka from the penalty spot after match official Viktor Kassai used the Video Assistant Referees system.
It was the first instance that the technology was used during an official FIFA match.

Kashima added two more goals late on through Yasushi Endo and substitute Yuma Suzuki to book a date with Real Madrid or America in the final to be played on Thursday.
