Liverpool beat Everton 1-0 in the Merseyside derby, thanks to an injury-time winner by Sadio Mane on Tuesday. Both the teams failed to create any chances during 90 minutes of rather dull football. However, Mane’s late winner gave Liverpool their 12th consecutive win against Everton. The Senegalese winger, who was signed for £34 million from Southampton, netted a loose ball after Daniel Sturridge’s shot had hit the post in four minutes into stoppage time. With the win, Liverpool are now second in the table and six points adrift of leaders Chelsea.
