The first session of the second day in Bangalore was a good old-fashioned contest between the bat and ball. The heat was on with only 47 runs scored and two wickets taken.

But even as we saw an absorbing session of Test cricket, the players seemed to be at their tussling best, and not just with the bat and the ball. Renshaw and Smith expertly wore the storm sent down by the charged up Indian bowlers, after losing the wicket of David Warner, who was bowled by R Ashwin. Then, Steve Smith was dismissed right before lunch, caught behind by Saha, bringing Shaun Marsh to the crease.

While the cricket on display was fascinating, the sledging was not that far behind on the entertainment quotient.

The banter was at an all-time high, with captains Virat Kohli and Steve Smith exchanging a few choice words with big grins. The conversation continued with Kohli in the slips and Smith an Matt Renshaw at the crease. The verbal duel went on during the drinks break as well, which many people at the ground tweeted about. The bowlers didn’t pass up on the opportunity to needle the batsmen either, and Ishant Sharma led the pack here with his particularly amusing antics.
