World No 4 Milos Raonic has withdrawn from the upcoming Indian Wells Masters, with an injury to his right hamstring. It is the same injury that had forced him to pull out before his final at the Delray Beach Open against Jack Sock in February. The injury had also kept him out of the Mexican Open last week.
The Canadian, who reached the Indian Wells final last year (lost to Novak Djokovic), will lose 600 points as a result of pulling out. This means he will drop down to at least the fifth place in the ATP rankings once they are updated in the week following the tournament. Meanwhile, world No 6 Rafael Nadal, will be seeded fifth in the men’s draw. Likewise, Juan Martin del Potro, will round off the 32-man seeding in the tournament.
