Skipper Virat Kohli on Thursday skipped batting at India’s nets session ahead of the fourth Test against Australia in Dharamsala, PTI reported on Thursday.
The report added that pacer Mohammed Shami will not be picked for the match as he is still being monitored by physio Patrick Farhart.
Kohli is nursing an injury to his right shoulder sustained while trying to save a boundary in Australia’s first innings at Ranchi. The 28-year-old, though, came out to bat but was dismissed cheaply.
Kohli was present at the ground with the right shoulder heavily bandaged. He took part in the customary warm-up and fielding drills, but did not enter the nets for batting practice.
The report cited a source as saying that Shami was with the team as the physio was helping him recover from his knee injury.
“Shami was with the team in Ranchi also as Farhart is monitoring his progress,” a source was quoted as saying. “He was not named in the squad of 15 for the final Test. Sending him to play the Vijay Hazare final was a part of that extensive rehabilitation plan.”
