Luke Shaw might have moved one step closer to the Old Trafford exit door with Manchester United Jose Mourinho accusing him of lacking commitment, focus and ambition.
Speaking ahead of the Red Devils’ clash against Everton on Monday night, Mourinho said, “I cannot compare the way he trains, the way he commits, the focus, the ambition. I cannot compare. He is a long way behind, ” comparing Shaw to teammates Matteo Darmian, Ashley Young and Daley Blind.
Shaw, who suffered a horrible double leg break in the UEFA Champions League in September 2015, has not started many games under Mou, with his last start coming against Bournemouth last month.
Before that game, the only other start that Shaw has made in the last four months came against Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup in January.
The former Southampton left-back became the world’s most expensive teenager when swapped St. Mary’s for Old Trafford but has found life very difficult under Mourinho, who has repeatedly hit out at Shaw. The relationship between the two was further strained when Mou was allegedly angry at the full-back for speaking to an opposition player during half-time on his last start.
United had a few injuries going into their last match against West Brom, yet Mourinho decided to name Matthew Willock on the bench as Shaw could not even make the 18-man matchday squad.
