Lasith Malinga on Thursday became the fifth bowler to take a hat-trick in T20Is but his could not prop-up Sri Lanka who lost to Bangladesh by 45 runs in the second game in Colombo.
The pacer bowled out Mushfiqur Rahim, Mashrafe Mortaza before trapping Mehedi Hasan leg before in his final over to finish with figures of 3/34.
The 33-year-old, who spent most of last year on the sidelines through injury, has four international hat-tricks to his credit.
His effort helped Sri Lanka restrict Bangladesh to 176/9. In reply, though, the visitors failed to put much of a fight as Mustafizure Rahman (4/21) and Shakib Al Hasab (3/24) ran through the Sri Lankan batting line-up. Chamara Kapugedara (50) provided some hope but could not take the side come close enough to push for a win.
The win helped Bangladesh level the two-match series 1-1.
