- This is the second time in IPL history that Punjab have won their first two matches. They did so in 2014 and reached the final.
- Glenn Maxwell also completed 1000 runs in the IPL at a strike rate of 164.75 in the course of his knock. Only Virender Sehwag has reached the mark at a higher strike rate of 165.56.
