Shoaib Malik scored an unbeaten ton as he and Mohammad Hafeez powered Pakistan to a six-wicket victory over West Indies in third and final One-Day International in Guyana on Tuesday. This win also sealed the ODI series 2-1 in Pakistan’s favour.

West Indies had scored 233/9 after winning the toss, with Shai Hope top-scoring with 71 while Jason Mohammed got 59 and Kieran Powell added a useful 23. The middle order had to score the bulk of the runs after they were reduced to 40-2 after losing openers Chadwick Walton and Evin Lewis. However, Hope stuck around to build a decent total, scoring only one four and two sixes in his 112-ball knock.

Shadab Khan (2-57) and Junaid Khan (2-60) and Mohammed Amir (2-41) led the bowling attack for Pakistan

In response, Pakistan got off to a shaky start and were soon down to 36-3 in only the ninth over, before Malik (101 not out) and Mohammad Hafeez (81 not out) got together to put up a match-winning partnership of 113 runs for the fourth wicket. In the end, Pakistan cruised to 236-4 with almost seven overs to spare.

Malik scored 101 off 111 deliveries with 10 fours and two sixes, with the second one bringing up his century and the victory, as he lofted Jason Holder over the ropes.

The two teams will now play a three-Test series starting April 21.
