Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Yuzvendra Chahal said his life had “totally changed” since he took figures of 6/25 against England in a Twenty20 International in Bengaluru in February, in an interview to IANS on Saturday. These figures were the best by an Indian bowler in the T20I format and the third-best overall.
“My life has totally changed after I took six wickets because that was [the] best figures by an Indian [in T20I] and third best overall,” said Chahal. “So now there is more responsibility on me and pressure. Now I have to do more compared to last year.”
The 26-year-old also added that he preferred to bowl on flat wickets over turning ones.
“For me, I love to bowl on flat wickets. I don’t like bowling on turning wickets,” said Chahal. “It is more difficult to beat the batsman, whereas on a flat wicket you can plan when to bowl sliders and googly. For me, I like pace on the wicket.”
According to the leg spinner, Royal Challengers Bangalore had enough variety in the spinning department after the additions of Samuel Badree and Pawan Negi in the auctions in February.
“He [Badree] can bowl in the Powerplay and I can bowl in the middle overs,” explained Chahal. “Then Negi is there. Now we have two spinners who can bowl in Powerplay, last year it was only me who bowled in Powerplay overs.”
