India’s Leander Paes and Brazilian partner Andre Sa made it into the quarters of the Estoril Open on Thursday in Cascais. The fourth seeds beat Argentina’s Renzo Olivo and his French partner Benoit Paire 7-6(1), 6-2 in the opening round of the clay-court tournament. Paes and Sa will now face the Spanish pair of Nicolas Almagro and Guillermo Garcia-Lopez in the quarter-finals.
India’s unseeded pair of Divij Sharan and Purav Raja also progressed to the last eight after they stunned third seeds Marcus Daniell of New Zealand and Marcelo Demoliner of Brazil. Sharan and Raja outclassed their opponents 6-0, 7-6(4). They will now face Uruguay’s Ariel Behar and Aliaksandr Bury of Belarus for a place in the semi-finals.
