Real Madrid are making waves in the transfer market, especially because of their latest deal and the huge sum that surrounds it, AS English reported.
A report in Brazil’s Globoesporte suggests that Real Madrid have agreed to sign 16-year-old Vinicius Junior for a sum of €45 million from Brazilian club Flamengo.
To put it in perspective, Vinicius’ value is double of what Santos received from Barcelona when they completed the trasfer of Neymar.
The transfer will officially be completed when the attacker turns 18. Incidentally, Indian fans will get to see the future star in action when he arrives in India with the Brazilian national team for the Under-17 World Cup in October.
Along with Real, Barcelona were also in the race for the youngster. They reportedly offered €25 million. But Real outbid them and are now likely to spend up to €61 million in total, including wages and a payment to his agents.
Real are expected to pay Vinicius €8 million per season.
Vinicius Junior joined Rio-based Flamengo in 2010. He rose through the ranks with impressive performances in the Under-13 side. Earlier this year, he led the national to victory in the South American Under-17 Championship. He emerged as the tournament’s best player and was also the top scorer.
