India put in a complete performance in Edgbaston, thrashing Pakistan by 124 runs in their first match of the 2017 Champions Trophy. India’s top four all scored fifties while Yuvraj Singh, Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya left Pakistan panting in a frenzied end to their innings. Pakistan’s chase was never on track as they plodded their way to 164, chasing a target of 289 in 41 overs.
Over on Twitter, there was much phrase for the sheer clinical nature of India’s overall performance.
Clinical display from India. Ro'Hitman' Sharma has hit the ground running. Yuvi of old. Business as usual for Kohli. Hardik--cherry on top!!

India are clearly the better team, but Pakistan looked like they never had a plan

India even at their fielding worst are beating Pakistan by some distance. Speaks volumes about the difference between the two sides.

India flexed its muscles, the batting was awesome and modern, the bowling very disciplned and only the fielding was patchy.

But Pakistan’s insipid, pathetic performance garnered plenty of hate.
Dropped catches, lazy fielding, unfit players and some of the worst tactics seen in a while. India have arguably underperformed with 319.

Very perplexed by the way Pakistan have played this one. If indeed, they have played it at all,
— Harsha Bhogle (@bhogleharsha) June 4, 2017
this is the equivalent of when Robin Singh and Sunil Joshi would try to bat out the 50 overs, & even Pakistanis would be too bored to watch

well that somehow was even worse than weeks of bracing for disaster had prepared for.

And well, let’s be honest...
Has to be one of the most boring India-Pakistan matches ever
— Mihir Vasavda (@mihirsv) June 4, 2017
This is now a boring cricket match, has been for a while. Makes pre-match conversation sound hollow and irrelevant.
