Wildcard Rutuja Bhosale won the women’s singles title at the $15000 Endurance Aurangabad Open Women ITF Championships on Saturday defeating Mahak Jain 6-4, 6-4 in the final on Sunday.

In a competitive final, both the players exchanged breaks before the 21-year-old Bhosale got a decisive break and took the first set 6-4. She went up 4-2 in the second set with another break but 16-year-old Jain fought back into the match to level scores 4-4. However, Bhosale held firm with her forehand winners to go on and hold the title.

The 21-year-old was playing her first professional event after returning from US College Tennis where she was playing for Texas A&M. It was her first title in India after a gap of five years.

However, Bhosale was denied a double title as the duo of Pranjala Yadlapalli and China’s Xiaoxi Zhao beat Bhosale and her partner Kanika Vaidya 2-6, 6-3, 10-4 in the final of the women’s doubles draw to lift the title.
