Indian rookie Karman Kaur Thandi reached the semi-final of the ITF Pro Circuit event in China on Friday with an upset 6-4, 7-6(4) over the world no 134 Fangzhou Liu.
The 18-year-old had earlier registered a facile 6-3, 7-6 win against Briton Tara Moore, who was ranked 196 places ahead her.
Last month, Thandi had managed to reach the round of 32 at Uzbekistan, where she lost out to Elena Rybakina despite winning by handsome 6-1 margin in the first set.
However, in another Uzbekistan event, Thandi managed to once again reach the last-four of the tournament. She had beaten another Chinese, Yue Yuan, to reach the quarter-finals.
The big-serving teenager has jumped 37 places over the last month, moving from 450 to her current raking of 413.
