In another epic clash, PV Sindhu defeated world champion Nozomi Okuhara in a thrilling final to clinch the women’s singles title of the Korea Open Superseries.
The 22-year-old Indian saw off eighth seed Okuhara 22-20, 11-21, 21-18 in an energy-sapping contest that lasted an hour and 23 minutes. The match came weeks after the Indian’s heart-wrenching world championship final loss to the Japanese in Glasgow, making the win even more special. Sindhu is now the first Indian to win the Korea Superseries.
The electrifying contest gripped the attention of social media as Sindhu displayed great stubbornness to lay claim to the third Superseries title of her career. Here’s how Twitter celebrated another title for the India. Hint: It was all praise and awe.
