Saurav Ghosal defeats higher-ranked Simon Rosner to reach final of Macau Open squash

India’s Saurav Ghosal, on Saturday, stormed into the final of the USD 50,000 Macau Open, a major PSA world tour event. The national champion, seeded fourth, ousted the top seed Simon Rosner of Germany in five games 11-5, 5-11, 11-6, 11-13, 11-4 in a pulsating semi-final.

The Indian is ranked 28th in the world while the German is placed 11th, but that did not unsettle Ghosal who showed his tremendous fighting ability and ensured victory in what panned out to be a topsy-turvy tussle

In the title match, Ghosal will meet second seed Egyptian Mohamed Abouelghar. The 32-year-old beat Hong Kong’s Tsz Fung Yip early in the tournament before getting the better of Egypt’s Mazen Gamal in another marathon contest to enter the semi-final.
