The England cricket team, on Wednesday, were left grappling with a big “distraction” ahead of the Ashes. Star all-rounder Ben Stokes was arrested and later released after allegedly punching a 27-year-man in a nightclub. Later in the evening, the police confirmed that the man suffered “facial injuries and was taken to the Bristol Royal Infirmary for treatment.”
While Stokes, widely regarded as the best all-rounder in the world, is still expected to be on the flight to Australia but some of the unforgiving folks on Twitter had fun at the New Zealand-born cricketer’s expense.
This has not been the first time throwing a punch landed Stokes in hot water either: the 26-year-old missed the 2014 World T20 after driving his fists through a locker in a fit of rage after being dismissed in a match against West Indies.
There are some folks who saw the brighter side to it. For a die-hard England fan, one can take heart from their former legendary all-rounders, Sir Ian Botham and Andrew Flintoff also being reprimanded for alcohol-related incidents during their playing days. Warner turned into a different beast after his bust-up with Root. The world is waiting for Stokes’ response:

Hard to escape the fact this is a weak Ashes squad. And if no Stokes.....

Someone should've told Ben Stokes it isn't compulsory to have a criminal record to get into Australia these days

OH NO!

Major Ashes scare!
If Stokes doesn't go to Aus, then England should just stay at home! https://t.co/chG7zrxhjo
Oh FFS, this is a bloody disaster.

There's a 2.35am Mbargo on those Stokes quotes

The worst thing Ben Stokes has done – in all of this – is go to Mbargo. Proper Student Union vibe, plastic glasses, sticky floors.
