India’s Dipika Pallikal Karthik’s dream run in the Oracal Netsuite Open $50,000 PSA Squash tournament came to a tame end when she went down against eight-time world champion Nicole David of Malaysia in just 22 minutes.
The world number 21, who had upset fourth seed Emily Whitlock of England and sixth seed Olivia Blatchford of USA in the previous rounds, was hardly a match for David who won 11-3, 11-0, 11-5 to set up a summit clash against England’s Sarah-Jane Perry.
The Indian was always going to be an underdog against David, who hold a 5-0 head-to-head record against Pallikal Karthik. But the 34-year-old was on song on Friday as she did not drop a point in the second game.
