Shooting World Cup: Sangram Dahiya wins silver in men’s double’s trap
Ankur Mittal, who was the pre-event favourite, finished fourth.
In his first final appearance in a World Cup final, 27-year-old Sangram Dahiya won the silver medal in the men’s double trap event at the ISSF World Cup in New Delhi on Friday.
The Indian finished three shots behind the eventual gold medal winner Hu Binyuan from China, who won his first gold medal at the World Cup with a world record. The Chinese shot 79 in the final, while Dahiya had a score of 76.
Ankur Mittal finished fourth.
Dahiya, along with world no. 1 in this category Mittal, had qualified for the final as the top two with scores of 144 and 139 respectively.
This was India’s third medal at the ISSF year-end event and second of the day, after Amanpreet Singh shot his way to a bronze medal in the 50-metre pistol final earlier on Friday. Heena Sindhu and Jitu Rai had won the gold in the 10-metre air pistol mixed-team event on Tuesday.
