Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli and Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma got married in a private ceremony in Italy on Monday. The news may have come as a surprise to some, as there was no prior announcement, but to some media organisations speculating about it for weeks and staking out airports, it was another opportunity for a news break.
The irony in calling a pre-arranged event ‘breaking news’ notwithstanding, there were a slew of news reports on the ceremony, their outfits, the menu, astrology and even a marketing case study.
