As a ruthless Rohit Sharma scored his record breaking third double hundred to guide India to a series-levelling 141-run win against Sri Lanka in the second ODI, the cricket fraternity was one in celebrating the unique achievement.
Rohit smashed an unbeaten 208 off 153 balls to fire India to a mammoth 392 for four, a total that proved to be too much for Sri Lanka, despite Angelo Mathews’ fighting century.
From his current and former Indian team mates...
- “What stands out to me is his consistency of getting double hundreds. The first one against Australia was a career-changing one and a batsman-changing one. When you get your first, you realise your potential and you know that you can do it again. He did that again at the Eden Gardens and got 264. I don’t think this one is a career-changing knock for him but it’s a fabulous knock because he’s got another double hundred. The best thing is his consistency of getting double hundreds which is very, very important,” Sourav Ganguly to India Today.
