Months after a public fallout with India skipper Virat Kohli, ex-head coach of the national team, Anil Kumble, attended his former ward and Bollywood star Anushka Sharma’s wedding reception in Mumbai on Tuesday.

Kumble had resigned from his role as coach after an alleged rift with Kohli in the lead-up to the ICC Champions Trophy in England.

“I was informed by the BCCI that the Captain had reservations with my style and about my continuing as the Head Coach. I was surprised since I had always respected the role boundaries between Captain and Coach.

“Though the BCCI attempted to resolve the misunderstandings between the Captain and me, it was apparent that the partnership was untenable, and I therefore, believe it is best for me to move on,” Kumble had said in a statement.

India had won five Test series under the tutelage of Kumble during his tenure between June 2016 and March 2017.

India also went onto win the ODI series against New Zealand, England before finishing runner’s up in the Champions Trophy. Ravi Shastri was named as his replacement.

However, his appearance on Tuesday pointed to a thaw in their alleged feud.

Kohli’s India teammates MS Dhoni, R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, Umesh Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav, Cheteshwar Pujara and Manish Pandey, among others were also present for the function.
